How Do I... Make An Appointment?

Routine Appointments

All consultations are by appointment only. Appointments can be made in person, by telephone or online. You will be offered the next available appointment where feasible.

Availability of routine medical appointments varies with demand, particularly when specifying a particular doctor. All doctors can be consulted about any problem that lies within the practice remit. For a specific problem you may be asked to see a particular doctor after the initial consultation. If the appointment is for more than one problem please ensure that you inform the receptionist at the time of booking to allow sufficient time for consultation.

Delays often arise due to emergencies or other unforeseen problems, so please try to be patient.

Urgent Appointments

A limited number of appointments are available until noon daily for urgent medical problems. Please ring the appointments line before 1000hrs to arrange an appointment. You must be prepared to wait longer than usual and may have to see a different doctor than routinely.

How Do I... Obtain Telephone Advice?

If you wish to speak to the doctor for urgent advice, please ring before 1030hrs and the receptionist will pass your details onto the doctor who will ring you as soon as possible.

It is essential that you give a reliable number and that you are available to take the call. If the doctor cannot get through the attempt will be abandoned and the details recorded on your medical record. We will not make repeated attempts, as time available for consultations is limited.

How Do I... Obtain A Home Visit?

If you are housebound or too ill to attend the surgery and think you may need a visit, please contact the surgery as soon as possible before 1030hrs. Be prepared to give the receptionist details of your name, age, address, telephone number and the reason for your request. All this information will remain confidential. The doctor will need this information to plan the appropriate response to your problem and may well phone you back for more details before leaving the surgery.

How Do I... Obtain Test Results?

It is the patient’s responsibility to check on the result of any test organised by the doctor by telephoning reception between 1400hrs and 1700hrs one week after the test unless told otherwise. Please remember that under no circumstances will you be given any result pertaining to a patient other than yourself. Please remember that your doctor may have requested several different tests on the same sample, in which case the results may take different times to process. Please try to be patient: if we get a result needing urgent attention we will contact you promptly, so do ensure we have your current correct contact details.
